Floral tribute in memory of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh

A posy of flowers has been laid at North East Derbyshire District Council’s headquarters this week, in memory of His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh.

Cllr Alex Dale, Leader of North East Derbyshire District Council and Cllr Pat Antcliff, Chair of North East Derbyshire District Council, attended Wednesday’s short act of remembrance outside our Mill Lane offices, Wingerworth, where the Union Flag has been flying at half-mast since the Duke’s death last Friday.

On hearing of the sad news last week, Cllr Dale and Cllr Antcliff issued this statement, speaking of the deep sorrow felt by so many at the Duke’s passing.

On Saturday 17 April, the council will join with the nation in observing a minute’s silence at 3pm.

Announcements reminding people of the silence will be made at the council’s leisure centres and customers will be asked to join us in this act of remembrance.

An online book of condolence is also available to sign on the official Royal Family website, together with information about how to make a donation, as a tribute to His Royal Highness.
