Jobs fair first gets seal of approval

Our first ever jobs fair has received the seal of approval from enthusiastic business bosses. Over 20 employers with hundreds of opportunities on offer set out their stalls at the Clay Cross event earlier this month.

Speaking at the event, held at Sharley Park Leisure Centre, Sara Guest, HR Manager with CS2 Transport Ltd, said: “We’ve had lots of interest and have some great candidates lined up from this.”

A number of different businesses and organisations were on hand to offer advice, apprenticeships and interviews to prospective job seekers.

They included health care and education providers, representatives from the service sector, independent firms and public bodies including North East Derbyshire District Council.

Sam Cook, Business Development Manager with Enable, the Voluntary and Community Sector Learning and Skills Consortium, said: “We’ve had some interested people and it’s good to make people aware of what apprenticeships are available.”

North East Derbyshire District Council Leader, Cllr Martin Thacker MBE, said: “It was a manifesto commitment to deliver at least two jobs fairs a year.

“This is our very first one and we are delighted by the fantastic support from employers and that people have come along and taken the opportunities to get into a job.

“We are now looking forward to working on our next fair and delivering this in due course.”

Updates on our next jobs fair will be available to view on our website and social media.

Any companies interested in taking part should contact Jane Weston, Employment and Skills Officer with North East Derbyshire District Council, Tel: 01246 217205.
