Despite rising costs, the council has been able to make sure customers are not paying any extra for their membership packages, due to sound financial management of the centres.
This approach has also seen the Council invest to improve its leisure facilities. In recent months the Council has installed cafés, extended car parks, refurbished squash courts, with further investment in a new online booking system and fast track entry. The right investment and good customer service has resulted in the highest ever number of customers using the facilities and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Cllr Barry Lewis, cabinet member for leisure, said: “I’m delighted that from 1 January 2020, leisure memberships at all three of our centres will remain at the same price.
“Providing a range of leisure facilities for our communities is one of our Council Plan priorities for 2019-23, so we want to make sure we do everything we can to ensure residents are able to access those facilities.”
For just £30 a month, people can get unlimited use of leisure facilities at Dronfield Sports Centre, Eckington Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre and Sharley Park Leisure Centre, Clay Cross, with no joining fee, a free induction and no commitment contracts available.
The council offers eight different membership packages for most ages, including some just for children from just £12/month.
