Organised by the Volunteer Centre: Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire, the annual Voluntary Sector Awards have become a key event to recognise the hard work of volunteers and groups working for the benefit of the local area.
North East Derbyshire District Council have
proudly supported the Awards since they commenced in 2013, and this year sponsored the Organisation of the Year Award for groups with an income of between £25,000 and £100,000.
With an impressive shortlist of nominees including the Sexual Abuse & Incest Line, Age Concern and Monkey Park, the winners on the night were Deaf & Hearing Support. Awards for nine other categories were also presented on the night.
The Award was presented by Cllr Martin Thacker MBE, Leader of the Council, said: “Every nominee at the ceremony should be applauded for their dedication as the community is much richer for their presence.
I am especially pleased for Deaf & Hearing Support whose tireless work to enable those with hearing impairments to participate fully in all walks of life makes such a difference to many people. The Volunteer Centre has once again organised an excellent event which showcases the best of the community spirit in our local area.”
