Last year Relate Chesterfield & North Derbyshire were successful in applying for a Community Action Grant to fund free places for a Counselling Skills for Non-Counsellors Course.
The group received £500 to help local people support those in the community, with a view to giving attendees the skills and confidence to have difficult conversations by enhancing their listening skills. Participants were working in a mixture of different environments including GP surgeries, schools, voluntary sector organisations, and community work settings.
A member of the organisation stated, "By training people from a vast range of work settings, we will have potentially reached so many vulnerable members of the community. We would like to thank NEDDC for funding our Counselling Skills for Non-Counsellors course and making it possible for us to offer it to organisations free of charge."
