Step it up in NE Derbyshire this Recycle Week

North East Derbyshire District Council is urging everyone to step up their recycling efforts in support of this year’s national Recycle Week.

Now in its 18th year, Recycle Week is Recycle Now’s flagship event and is a celebration of recycling across the nation.

The theme of this year’s event, which takes place from 20-26 September, is Step it Up this Recycle Week.

With this in mind, we are asking all our residents and businesses to do even more during the week and beyond, by making sure they recycle rubbish correctly and getting in touch if they need help or advice.

We also want people to share their top recycling tips with us on social media during the week. We’d love to see photos of what you’ve upcycled, recycled and created out of things that are usually thrown away.

Cllr Charlotte Cupit, Cabinet member for the Environment and Planning, said: “We know that recycling can often be confusing.

“It sometimes isn’t easy knowing what you can and can’t recycle, but we are working hard to make it as straightforward as possible.

“Our website lists lots of items that can and can’t be recycled, so please take a look and if you are in any doubt, please get in touch.

“If we all just do that little bit more, we can make our district and planet even greener for generations to come.”
