Village Gems walk hikes up the funds raised for the Chairman’s Charity Appeal

North East Derbyshire District Council’s Chairman and other fundraisers set off on an 8.5 mile trek around Holymoorside Parish in aid of raising funds for the Chairman’s Appeal for Ashgate Hospicecare.

As well as raising funds for the charity, the band of walkers were given an insight into the village gems that included places of historical interest and areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Chairman of North East Derbyshire District Council, Councillor Martin Thacker, said: "The Village Gems walk provided a wonderful opportunity for participants to see why Holymoorside is such a wonderful place. It has an amazing history too. I am grateful to Paul Truscott for organising the event and those who joined me. We raised £620 for Ashgate Hospicecare."
