Community Action Grants, CAG Tree Planting and Eco Schools Grants

Community Action Grants

Community Action Grants enable groups operating in North East Derbyshire to access up to £500 grant funding to support residents to tackle local issues in the NE District that support our Council Plan 2023-2027 (.pdf | 7.0mb). The funding is open to formally constituted groups and non-constituted groups who are sponsored by an organisation who will act on their behalf, such as a Town or Parish Council or other constituted group. The scheme is not open to businesses.

See our previous Community Action Grant success stories.

We would welcome applications which aim to help or promote awareness of the benefits physical activity, community events, local community improvements, reducing social isolation, raising awareness of climate change, improving recycling rates and reducing litter, enhancing biodiversity, supporting development of local volunteers and groups, addressing parking issues and reducing anti-social behaviour.

Council Plan priorities may link to project ideas and can be found in the Community Action Grant Priority List (.pdf | 208kb) document.

CAG Tree Planting

To support Derbyshire County Council’s Derbyshire's Heartwood Community Forest ambition to plant 300,000 trees and to facilitate the planting of a Million Trees by 2030, we are extending CAG to include applications for tree planting. Although the Forest covers only part of the District, Community Groups, Schools and Parish Councils can now apply for a grant in ANY area of North East Derbyshire District to support these schemes.

Eco School Grants

Eco Schools Grants enable any infant, primary, junior or secondary school operating in North East Derbyshire District to access up to £250 grant funding for projects which empower young people to make a positive impact against Climate Change.

See our previous Eco School Grant Success Stories.

More information about the Council’s priorities are set out in our NEDDC Climate Change Strategy 2022-2030 (.pdf | 5.19mb).
