Litter Picking Team from NEDDC

World Earth Day – April 22

Today marks the international Earth Day!

World Earth day was first celebrated in April 1970 and still remains the largest single-day protest in human history with more than 20 million people standing up to environmental decline and inspiring awareness and action worldwide.

North East Derbyshire District Council are celebrating World Earth Day with a litter pick around the area of the DCO Mill Lane Office building – with officers and Councillors both on hand to help, showing our continued commitment to cleaner and greener spaces.

By tackling litter within our own spaces, we wanted to demonstrate that even small actions can make a meaningful environmental impact as well as help to foster a sense of community and responsibility.

The officers helped to clear the area around the mill lane offices area of 15 bags of rubbish, which will be correctly disposed of by the Streetscene Team, who kindly provided the team with the litter picking equipment.
