We are excited to support our communities in celebrating the amazing achievement of 70 years on the throne by Her Majesty the Queen and below you can find out all you need to know about the up-coming jubilee celebrations.
Street parties and community events
If you are planning on holding a street party to celebrate the Jubilee, please make sure you get in touch with our Engineering Department on 01246 217393 in the first instance, to discuss arrangements.
If you aren't sure how to organise a party or what to do for a road closure, please see the below information.
Queen's Green Canopy
We are also promoting the Queen’s Green Canopy, a tree planting initiative created to mark the occasion.
Everyone across the UK is being invited to plant trees through to the end of the Jubilee year. (We have also been busy planting trees for the occasion).
Free tree packs are available from The Woodland Trust for schools and community groups who have permission from legal landowners to plant trees on their land.
Community Action Grants up to £500
To support the cost of celebration events and activities, our community action grants will consider applications from community groups for grants of up to £500 to help with setting up your event and making it as successful as possible. Make sure you apply early!
Platinum Party at the Palace
On Saturday 4 June 2022 the BBC will stage and broadcast a special live concert from Buckingham Palace that will bring together some of the world's biggest entertainment stars.
Derbyshire residents can apply to attend this special event. The ballot for tickets is now open and it closes on 23 March 2022. There are 10,000 tickets (5,000 pairs) up for grabs. The 10,000 tickets are not being allocated on a first-come first-served basis, so there is as much chance of being selected if an application is made on 24 February as on 23 March 2022.
