We hope you all had an amazing weekend celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee between 2-5 June 2022.
Below are some stories and images from celebrations around the district where we helped with Community Action Grant funding to support them.
Millstone Neighbours Group
Millstone Neighbours Group were successful in applying for a £500 Community Action Grant to fund a Jubilee Party for the local community, including elderly and new families in the area. Funds were used for refreshments, union jack tablecloths, flags and bunting for the party, which supported the group's aims to improve social inclusion and reduce loneliness and social isolation. Joanne Furniss, leader of the group stated "The event was absolutely fantastic! Everyone enjoyed themselves and had smiles on their faces all day, everyone pulled together and the community spirit was amazing. The feedback we received was so positive and one of the older residents said it was just like the good old days and everyone was asking when the next event was! The funding gave us the chance to meet new people within the community and for the older residents to make new friends and have some fun. We are so grateful for the funding and support from NEDDC, it really did make a huge difference, thank you."The project helped address local issues and concerns, improved wellbeing and mental health and enabled local action by empowering and supporting local volunteers.
